Marriage Ammendment Passes but....
Not to get too political, but we were able to acquire enough signatures to get the FL Marriage Amendment to the ballot. This is great news and we should celebrate the definition of Marriage to remain as between 1 man and 1 woman. However, I do not believe that we are necessarily out of the woods. I say this primarily because the vote will take place alongside a very divided presidential race. Most people who go to the polls on presidential election years only pay attention to the presidential election. So the amendment will be a "secondary" issue. Now that means that the if the republican candidate is McCain many of the social conservatives may not even bother going to the polls, because they don't want McCain or either of the democrats. The only thing that will bring the pro-family, right wing, arm of the party out is perhaps an "anti-Hillary" mindset if she is the nominee. If it is Obama vs. McCain, then I think the Marriage Amendment will need a lot of prayer and work on our behalf.
